The state power company Zaporozhyeoblenergo has cut off Zaporizhstal from electricity due to its debts of 140 million UAH.
At the same time the works claims it can’t pay its debts unless the state reimburses it 822 million UAH of VAT.
“Thanks to the competent technical actions of our specialists we were able to avoid the complete halt of the works and possible accidents. We can’t allow the works to halt completely and leave our employees without salary. So we have taken a difficult decision – we sent 70 million UAH from our investment projects to partially cover our debts to Zaporozhyeoblenergo”, said the company CEO Rostislav Shurma.
As the result, power supply to the works has been restored.
“But this doesn’t solve the problem. If the situation with VAT reimbursement doesn’t change, we will face a dead-end in two weeks – we will have nothing to pay wages with”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
