Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, a part of Metinvest, has started to produce thermally and mechanically strengthened hot-rolled coils S355M and S355MC. This is the first time that such a rolled metal is produced in Ukraine.
“S355MC coils are produced according to EN10149-2. They are used in machine-building. S355M coils produced according to EN10025-4 are used in construction”, said the company in its statement.
By using the new rolled metal manufacturers can save up to 34% of steel as compared with other types. Thanks to its high flexibility S355M rolled metal can be used at low temperatures.
The first 150 tons have been shipped to Poland and Slovakia. Orders for December have already come in.
In the nearest future Metinvest plans to start producing S420M and S420MC rolled metal. (Ukrainian metal)
