DTEK could import coal by sea only if the state enterprise Energorynok pays all its debts to the company.
The power holding also insists on implementation of the economically grounded tariff for electric power generation by thermal power stations that would cover its expenses on imported coal.
According to DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko, the debt now totals 5.3 billion UAH. At the same time imported coal costs around $65 per ton (1560 UAH), while coal price at the power station level is 1100 UAH per ton.
“We are not prepared to import coal and be responsible for payment and delivery. We tried this last February and lost some 350 million UAH”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
