The Higher Economic Court of Kiev could invalidate the concession of the DTEK Rovenkiantracit. Centrenergo filed the case to the company and the Ministry for energy and coal industry of Ukraine.

The state enterprise in Rovenki (in Lugansk region, currently occupied by the Russia-supported terrorists), one of the largest anthracite manufacturers in Ukraine, was given to Rinat Akhmetov in concession for 49 years. The same was done with another state enterprise – Sverdlovantracit.

The concession agreement was signed by the ministry and DTEK on December 1, 2011.

Both companies account for around 80% of the anthracite mined in Ukraine. Rovenkiantracit has the capacity to mine over 8 million tons of coal annually, while Sverdlovantracit yields more than 6 million tons.

Now the state gets no payment for concession, nor does it receive the coal mined there. (Ukrainian metal)
