The Ministry for energy and coal industry wants the International Monetary Fund, Ukraine’s key creditor, to help reform the coal industry, which has been suffering from the lack of the budget support for over a year.

“I have met the IMF representatives. They understand the problems of our coal industry. We have decided to have a meeting in the near future. I want to have a separate program, not through the budget”, said the energy and coal minister Vladimir Demchyshin. “If they agree, they will delegate this to the EBRD or the World Bank”, he added.

According to Demchyshin, right now the state is unable to support the coal industry, which needs over 10 billion UAH per year. (Ukrainian metal)
