The State Enterprise United Mining and Chemical Company, operating Volnogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (VGMK) and Irshansk Mining and Processing Works (IGOK), has won a tender to supply ilmenite concentrate to Zaporozhye Titanium and Magnesium Works (ZTMK).

VGMK would supply over 54 thousand tons of products by the end December 2016. The total cost of the products is 208 million tons. Thus ZTMK would become the largest buyer of the Volnogorsk Complex products.

“This would allow us to sell around 30% of the annual output”, said the UMCC first CEO deputy Alexander Gladushko.

VGMK is capable of producing 200 thousand tons of ilmenite concentrate with 65% content of TiO2 per year. That’s the largest titanium dioxide content in the raw ilmenite extracted in Ukraine.

ZTMK is the only Ukrainian and European manufacturer of metallic titanium sponge with capacities of 20 thousand tons per year. But due to the wear of its machinery the company can now produce only 10 thousand tons of sponge per year. (Ukrainian metal)
