In January-June Ukraine exported 739.18 thousand tons of ferrous metals scrap, up by 56.7% or 59.4% YoY, depending on the source. Thus the Customs service states 471.68 thousand tons of scrap exports in January-June 2014, while the State Statistics claim it was 463.59 thousand tons.

At the same time, in monetary terms the exports are up by 21.7% or 23.8%, to $181.78 million (from $149.39 million or $146.78 million respectively).

In the first half year Ukraine imported 1.61 thousand tons of ferrous scrap worth $2 million, down by 93.8% and 80.2% YoY respectively (in H1 2014 Ukraine imported 25.97 thousand tons).

The main suppliers of ferrous scrap to Ukraine were Turkey (95.51%) and Moldova (3.29%), with the most exports going to these countries as well – 86.25% to Turkey and 12.67% to Moldova. (Ukrainian metal)
