Interpipe reported that its Interpipe Steel (previously Dneprostal) had 15 days of dead time in the first quarter of 2015 due to the ferrous scrap shortage.

This lead to direct economical losses, as well as reputation failures – the company was unable to supply its clients in time, said economics and financial director Denis Morozov.

According to him, in January-March ferrous scrap deficiency reached 221 thousand tons, or 23% of the Ukrainian metal companies needs. At the same time scrap exports from Ukraine totaled 266 thousand tons. The company had to import hot-briquetted iron and pig iron from Russia. (Ukrainian metal)
