Some mines are still operating in the Lugansk region, controlled by Ukraine. These belong to Lisichanskugol and Pervomayskugol. In 2014 these companies produced 1 million tons of coal.
In 2014 Pervomayskugol and Lisichanskugol received 1125 million UAH from State Budget, down by 191 million UAH YoY. The money was intended for self-cost differences cover, capital construction and labour safety.
Regional authorities control railroad car supplies on daily basis. Because of the military activity in the region, some railroads have been damaged. In particular, two of the three existing railroad branches are out of order. (Ukrainian metal)
