In January Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, a part of the Metinvest group, produced 244 thousand tons of rolled metal, down by 22.3% YoY.

Steel smelting fell by 21.7%, to 271 thousand tons, while pig iron production decreased by 23.8%, to 227 thousand tons.

Because of the shutdown of the sinter factory, sinter was not produced in January.

In December 2014 Azovstal produced 229 thousand tons of rolled metal, 268 thousand tons of steel and 227 thousand tons of pig iron.

Output fall is explained by shortages of coke and raw materials supplies caused by the blowing of the railroad bridge in Mariupol in December 2014. (Ukrainian metal)
