According to the data, issued by Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers, in the first four months of 2012 Ukraine registered increase of 1.2% YoY in its finished steel product output to 9.659 million tons, a 0.6% rise in its pig iron production to 9.604 million tons, but a 4.7% decrease in its crude steel output to 11.127 million tons.
The country production of metallurgical coke in the given period went down by 0.7% YoY to 6.491 million tons. In the January-April period Ukraine produced 22.052 million tons of iron ore concentrate and 7.424 million tons of iron ore pellets, up by 3.4% and 5.5% respectively compared to the same period last year.
In April alone Ukraine produced 2.548 million tons of finished steel products, up by 2.9% MoM, 2.951 million tons of crude steel, up by 1.5% MoM, 2.479 million tons of pig iron, up by 0.3% MoM and 1.670 million tons of metallurgical coke, up by 0.9% MoM. (SteelOrbis)
