Steel pipe and railway wheel producer Interpipe has successfully passed the qualification tests for its UPJ at the Oil State Industries Ltd UKAS Accredited Test Laboratory in Scotland.
Oil State Industries is the accredited center of UKAS which is the only existing body of accreditation in the UK and is recognized by the British Government.
Tubing pipes with the UPJ threaded connection produced at Interpipe NTRP mill passed the qualification tests. During the qualification tests, pipes were tested for crushing and tearing. Tests of specific samples of batch pipes were carried out on special stands. This additional measure of control prevents the destruction of casing under internal tearing or external collapsing pressure in the drilling process.
Test results from Oil States Industries, Ltd confirmed the compliance of the UPJ threaded connections to the ISO 13679:2002 standard of tubing pipes at the CALL II level, which are used in oil and gas industry.
Mr. Fadi Hraibi, Director for Products and Resource Management at Interpipe, said “The tests proved the high reliability of UPJ threaded connections. According to some indicators the exploitation characteristics of joints even exceeded the industry norm. In particular the results of the break exceeded the norm by 1.3 times, illustrating the pipes’ reliability. We’re honored to supply our pipe products with the UPJ connection to some of the largest oil and gas companies, such as Syrian Petroleum Company, the National Iranian Oil Company and others.” (SteelGuru)
