According to the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in January to April this year Ukrainian steelmakers registered a growth of 20% YoY in their average daily pig iron output to 78,700 tons.
In April this year, Ukraine average daily pig iron output amounted to 82,300 tons. Meanwhile, the average daily pig iron output in the first ten days of May was at the same level.
According to the Metallurgprom data, as of May 11th, 10 of Ukraine 41 blast furnaces continued to stand idle. In addition, two of the country 21 converters, 18 of its 35 open hearth furnaces and eight of its 15 electric furnaces also continued to stand idle. (SteelOrbis)
