According to the preliminary data issued by the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine, in January to April 2010 Ukraine registered an increase of 18% YoY in its finished steel product output to 9.839 million tons and a 20.9% rise in its crude steel output to 11.038 million tons.
In the first four months of 2010, Ukraine saw a 20.4% YoY increase in its pig iron production to 9.446 million tons and a 14.9% YoY growth in its coke output to 6.23 million tons. In addition, in January-April this year the country’s production of steel pipes went up by 10.2% YoY to 496,400 tons, while its output of hardware increased by 38.9% YoY to 86,800 tons.
In its iron ore segment, in the first four months of this year, Ukraine produced 25.043 million tons of iron ore, up by 34.6% YoY and 20.744 million tons of iron ore concentrate, up by 36.3% YoY respectively. In addition, during the period in question the country agglomerate production amounted to 13.557 million tons, up by 24.4% YoY while its pellet production totaled 7.336 million tons, up by 25.9% YoY.
