According to the preliminary data issued by the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine, in January to February Ukraine finished steel product output registered an increase of 11% to 4.514 million tons and crude steel output up by 12% to 5.069 million tons.
In the first two months of 2010 Ukraine pig iron production saw an increase of 15% YoY to 4.42 million tons and coke output up by 14% YoY to 2.885 million tons. On the other hand, in January to February the country production of steel pipes went down by 2% YoY to 209,000 tons while its output of hardware increased by 9% YoY to 33,000 tons.
In its iron ore segment, in January to February this year Ukraine produced about 12.325 million tons of iron ore and 9.993 million tons of iron ore concentrate up by 39% YoY and 40% YoY respectively. In addition, during the period in question the country agglomerate production amounted to 6.274 million tons up by 15% YoY while its pellet production totaled 3.576 million tons up by 30% YoY.
