According to the data released by England Steel Statistics Bureau, Ukraine exported 23.786 million tons of steel in 2009 totally down by 16% from the 28.375 million tons in 2008. Although export decreased, Ukraine is still the fourth largest steel exporter, behind to Japan, EU 27 bodies and Russia.
In 2009, Ukraine semi-finished steel exports were 11.52 million tons while the figure was 12.763 million tons in 2008 down by 10% YoY, the export of long products was 4.827 million tons, a decrease of 13% from the 5.557 million tons in 2008, the export of flat products was 6.061 million tons, down 27% from the 8.249 million tons in 2008 and the export of pipe products was 1.378 million tons down by 24% YoY from the 1.806 million tons in 2008.
1. Export of flat products and pipe products of 3.10 million tons to EU 27 bodies, down by 46% YoY.
2. Export to non-Europe countries was 2.60 million tons, down by 37% YoY.
3. Export to Turkey was 2.30 million tons, down by 32% and 3.50 million tons to CIS, down by 21% YoY.
4. Export to Russia was 1.80 million tons, down by 25% YoY and 2.40 million tons to Africa, down by 19% YoY.
5. Export to Middle East was 5.70 million tons, up by 5% YoY and only 200,000 tons to North America, down by 87% YoY.
6. Export to Asia market was 5.40 million tons, up by 85% YoY.
