According to the government data, Ukrainian ferrous scrap metals recycling companies have increased their export by 38.9% YoY in comparison with 2008 to 885,000 tons in 2009.
In December 2009 scrap export made approximately 55,000 tons. Supplies of scrap to the local steel mills in 2009 made 4.602 million tons compared to 5.841 million tons a year before.
In 2008 Ukraine reduced export of steel scrap by 7.4% in comparison to 2007 to 637,300 tons, scrap supplies to local mills decreased as well by 17% to 5.824 million tons. (Rusmet)
