According to mining enterprises association Ukrrudprom, Ukrainian metallurgical plants increased iron ore raw materials import in January to November 2009 by 33% YoY to 3.602 million tons.

In January to November iron ore concentrate import grew 2.8 times to 2.815 million tons, sinter ore import decreased by 53.3% to 563,300 tons, pellets import decreased by 59.4% to 201,700 tons. Besides, metallurgical plants imported 21,800 tons of agglomerate whereas in January to November 2008 it was not imported.
In November metallurgical plants imported 252300 tons of iron ore raw materials, including 212,500 tons of iron ore concentrate, 29700 tons of sinter ore and 10,100 tons of pellets.
In 2008 Ukraine cut iron ore raw materials import by 23.3% as compared with 2007, to 2.723 million tons. In particular, iron ore concentrate import fell by 41.4% to 1.005 million tons, pellets by 39.6% to 511,300 tons, sinter ore import grew by 21.7% to 1.206 million tons.
In January to November mining enterprises increased iron ore raw materials export by 22.9% YoY to 25.866 million tons. Iron ore concentrate export in 11 months of 2009 grew by 90.4% to 12.015 million tons, pellets by 73.6% to 8.819 million tons, agglomerate 4.1 times to 249,300 tons, sinter ore export fell by 26.1% to 4.784 million tons.
In November mining plants sold abroad 3.066 million tons of iron ore raw materials including 1.526 million tons of concentrate, 570,500 tons of sinter ore, 49,900 tons of agglomerate and 919,600 tons of pellets. Iron ore raw materials export increased in November by 7% as compared with October.
In 2008 Ukraine increased iron ore raw materials export by 5.1% as compared with 2007 to 21 million 872,100 tons. Iron ore concentrate export grew by 33.7% to 6.4 million tons, sinter ore export decreased by 5.4% to 6.772 million tons, pellets export decresaed by 2% to 8.7 million tons. (Prime-Tass)
