The state statistics committee reported that Ukraine’s exports of ferrous metal scrap dropped 28% YoY to 296,200 tonnes in January to June 2009 down from 411,450 tonnes exported in the same period of 2008.
At the same time, Ukraine’s revenues from exports of ferrous metal scrap dropped by 67% YoY to USD 62.7 million in January to June 2009 down from USD 190.4 million one year ago.

2. Egypt
65,720 tonnes down from 153,180 tonnes YoY
3. Moldova
19,190 tonnes from 21,830 tonnes YoY
In June alone Ukraine exported 99,430 tonnes of ferrous metal scrap, up from 59,040 tonnes exported in May, but down from 131,580 tonnes exported in June 2008. In June Ukraine shipped most of the commodity to Turkey and Egypt.
In 2008 Ukraine’s exports of the commodity fell 6.7% YoY to 630,180 tonnes worth USD 293.45 million as compared with 675,760 tonnes worth USD 194.17 million exported in 2007. (Platts)
