Tulachermet was able to increase the volume of its pig iron-transporting ladles from 65 to 80 tons by decreasing the thickness of the refractory lining. This allows decreasing time needed to pour pig iron into converters, thus improving the converter steel shop efficiency. At present all the 43 ladles have been modernized. (Ukrainian metal)
