Due to enemy attacks, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih lost 12 locomotives in two months. This was stated by the head of the company, Mauro Longobardo.
According to the CEO, the company lost 12 locomotives in two months.
“We hope that the situation improves. After all, if we continue to lose our locomotives, we will not be able to work. There are assets that cannot be stopped. We need to constantly produce pig iron, coke. And we also always need locomotives to transport this material,” said Mauro Longobardo.
According to him, negotiations are currently underway with the military to understand how to better protect the plant.
“I will not share details, but we have plans inside the plant to stop all these risks, to improve the situation a little. We have one station in joint ownership with Ukrzaliznytsia. There we have already started implementing actions so that our locomotives and cars are not constantly under drones. These are short-term actions. But we also discussed with the military how they can protect and defend specific areas of our plant more effectively. We noticed that drones are targeting the station. And most likely we need to focus on the stations, if we are talking about defense,” the head of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih specified.
He added that on April 28, the locomotive driver Ivan Zabolotny was killed. He was 40 years old. He became the second worker to die from Russian shelling directly at the plant since the full-scale invasion began. Eight workers were also injured on April 28. (Rail.Insider)
