PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih started the hot tests of sinter machine No. 5 after its modernization. It was performed as part of the company investment program on modernization of the Sinter Plant No. 2 and improvement of environmental indicators.
During modernization of sinter machine No. 5, gas-cleaning plant of wet type was replaced by the dry one with the usage of a more advanced and efficient electrostatic precipitator. It will help to maintain dust emission norm at the level of less than 50 milligrams per cubic meter as fixed by Ukrainian legislation, in future.
Also, main components of sinter machine – gas collector, sinter cars – were completely replaced, a new ignition furnace was installed, and the linear cooler was modernized, a new type of exhauster was introduced that will allow to reduce sinter machine idling time. Besides, buildings and structures of the Sinter Plant No. 2 were repaired.
In general, capital investments for this project last year only comprised more than $25 million.
Dmitriy Scherbak, Project Manager of Investments and Engineering Department, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih: “Investment project on modernization of the Sinter Plant No. 2 started from modernization of the sinter machine No. 6 finished in 2016. Last year works on the sinter machine No. 5 were started, now they reached the completion stage. This year we will commission V-3 electrostatic precipitator for these sinter machines tail ends and fully modernize the return conveyors with decommissioning of the quenching drums and building new bag filters No. 5 and 6. All these actions will allow us to improve the employees’ working conditions, reduce the emission level and decrease the city and region environmental footprint”. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
