QazIron ERG (a subsidiary of the industrial group Eurasian Resources Group) intends to build a hot briquetted iron plant in the city of Rudny in the Kostanay region of Kazakhstan, the regional akimat (regional state administration) has announced.
The expected investment volume for the first stage is 655 billion tenge (approximately $1.3 billion).
The plant’s design capacity will be 2 million tons of products per year.
The investor is completing the design and estimate documentation. Construction of the plant is planned to begin in the near future. Regional authorities have not announced a precise timeline for the project.
It is noted that the plant will use direct reduction iron technology using the Midrex process, using natural gas instead of coke. (Logistan)
