In August, the Commercial Court of Donetsk region declared Ukrzinc OJSC bankrupt.
The company has not been operating since 2002. New plants, such as Svinets LLC and Zinc PJSC, have appeared on its manufacturing assets.
Ukrzinc was founded in Konstantinovka in 1930 to produce zinc. Its capacity then was 12 thousand tons of zinc per year.
After the World War II the plant was rebuilt almost completely. Its capacity grew 2-fold.
In 1953, cadmium manufacture was launched and in 1954 – lead. The plant’s maximum capacity was 40 thousand tons per year.
In 1994, the state enterprise Ukrzinc was reorganized into an open joint-stock company by way of corporatization. (Ukrainian metal)
