Only a small part of destroyed enemy war machines could be used as scrap for steel manufacture, Metinvest CEO Yuri Ryzhenkov believes.
“Some think, that you can just take all this, smelt it and make new metal or machines, but it is not so. The remains are a very complex story, as that metal has many additional substances. We can’t just add it to our metal – we will not get the quality we need. Speaking about enemy war machines, only 5% of them can be added to steel grade as raw materials,” he said.
Ryzhenkov suggested making memorials of these machines in time.
At the same time, the Czech hedgehogs, made by Metinvest, could be remelted, but no hurry should be made.
“I think, that even when the war ends, Russia will remain. It will remain where it is, as the whole country or a part of the country. I think that for a time it will remain hostile to us. So the defence against Russia will remain on the agenda for years to come. I believe it is too early to melt the hedgehogs. Moreover, we have to make more defence means to protect our borders,” he said. (Ukrainian metal)
