ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has launched only one blast furnace out of four, as it lacks coking coal for full operation.

Before the Russian invasion the company bought 300 thousand tons of coal each month, mostly from Kazakhstan.

“But now the Temirtau coal cannot reach us. We have to look for other sources. This is difficult. When we provide coal in the necessary volume, we will launch another furnace,” the company CEO Mauro Longobardo said.

AMKR transports its products to Poland, from where its customers can buy them.

Due to the blocking of Ukrainian ports, deliveries are made from Polish ones, which also increases time.

The company has activated the search for customers in the USA after the cancellation of duties. (Ukrainian metal)
