Zaporizhstal has mastered the manufacture of cold-rolled coils with the increased weight without welding seam.
The company has already sold 3.6 thousand tons of new metal for the construction industry.
The size of the coil is 1.5-2×1370-1500 mm.
“We have received an order from a promising customer from Europe. They wanted coils with the width of 1500 mm, but with the weight of not less than 9 tons. We used to make such products, but we had to revise our technique. Together with our colleagues from the hot-rolling shop we have developed a new technique,” the cold-rolling shop deputy director Sergey Kuzmenko has said.
It took the company 14 days to produce the first trial batch of coils.
Zaporizhstal used to produce coils weighing up to 8 tons and with the thickness of 3.8 mm. For this, the company welded two coils together, receiving coils with seams.
Now the technique has changed. New coils are made in the hot-rolling shop, while in the cold-rolling shop their thickness is changed. (Ukrainian metal)
