The Ukrainian Association of Secondary Metals (UAVtormet) considers it impossible during the martial law to turn tank armor into plates for bulletproof vests.
The chemical composition of the armored steel of tanks and steel used to make vests is similar, but the multi-component steel manufacture is an obstacle.
“To produce bulletproof plates it is necessary to make steel, roll it, apply heat-treatment and cut. Unfortunately, under the martial law such a process is impossible,” the association said. (Ukrainian metal)
