Kazakhmys begins operation at the Khadjikongan deposit.

Copper ore reserves are estimated at 6 million tons with the copper content of 1.52%, including 1 million tons of oxidized ore and 5 million tons of sulphide ore with the copper content of 1.58%.

The initial prospecting of the deposit was carried out in late 1960s.

In 2013, prospecting resumed.

Until the end of the year, the company plans to extract 3.5 million cubic meters of rock and produce 400 thousand tons of oxidized ore. Next year, the deposit will yield the first 200 thousand tons of sulphide ore and in 2023 it will reach its design capacity of 920 thousand tons of ore per year. (Ukrainian metal)
