A new cold-rolling shop will be built at the Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works. This will be one of the first steps to relocate capacities from the downtown.
A corresponding contract valued at $1 billion was signed this week.
Metinvest plans to relocate all the manufacturing capacities away from the center of Mariupol.
“An enterprise in the downtown is a big burden on environment. We want to move manufacture from the city center by creating it elsewhere. This is no longer a modernization, but a creation of a new, clean manufacture”, Metinvest CEO Yuri Ryzhenkov has said. (Ukrainian metal)
