ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has completed the reconstruction of sintering machine No. 1 of sinter plant No. 2 and is starting hot tests on it. The company continues to implement a large-scale investment project for the reconstruction of sinter plant No 2. As of now four of six sintering machines of the shop have already been modernized: Nos. 1, 4, 5, 6. Each machine was equipped with modern gas cleaning, dust exhausting and automation systems. The total cost of the project exceeds $ 180 million.

As a result, sinter machine No. 1, as well as sinter machines Nos. 4, 5 and 6 earlier, has been equipped with a new gas cleaning equipment from sintering zone. A new modern and effective Ekoplant electric filter (Italy) has been installed here. Sinter cars have been replaced to allow increasing of mix layer up to 450 mm, as well as main units of a linear cooler, gas collector with automated system for dust discharging through new two-flap valves, and spillage conveyor unit. Additionally, a new ignition furnace with an up-to date energy effective ignition system is installed, allowing significant reduction of natural gas consumption. Distinctive feature of the reconstruction of this sinter machine compared to the other three is the construction of at once two new dust exhausting units, which will be used not only for the machine itself, but also for a range of buildings and structures of the entire shop (sintering building and loading hoppers, junction house of agglomerate, sample preparation area).

The modernization of the sinter machine No. 2 is scheduled for Q3-4 and sinter machine No. 3 will have been stopped for modernization by end of this year that will put the plant in a position that in the beginning of 2021 all running machines will be compliant to environment. As a result of the reconstruction of sinter plant No. 2, dust emissions from each of six sinter machines will be reduced by 250 tons per year. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
