Mauro Longobardo, CEO of ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, has met with Yuriy Vilkul, mayor of Kriviy Rih, to discuss urgent measures to counteract against spreading of coronavirus in the city.
Business is ready to help municipal authorities – upon results of the negotiations the company’s management took following decisions:
– ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih will buy three artificial respirating units for medical facilities of Kriviy Rih. This equipment is used in resuscitation department in case of respiratory failure of the patients. Currently it is in large demand in medical hospitals in all Ukraine’s cities.
– Starting from March 23, the ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih “Dzherelo” sanatorium, which is designed for rest and wellness of the company’s employees, will stop its regular operations and will be converted into an observational facility for a period of Ukraine’s quarantine. People who have no symptoms of the illness and detected coronavirus, but who have contacted before with those who have confirmed COVID-19, will be sent there under supervision of medics. Also, the citizens, who have come back recently from abroad trips and must be isolated, will stay there. The sanatorium is designed for 276 people in the separate blocks. In the sanatorium there is a capability to provide people with hot meals. Currently the representatives of medical service of the company together with city specialists are assessing a possibility to equip the sanatorium with special tools, necessary to comply with all disinfection regulations.
– The company will equip its six ambulance cars with everything necessary for safe transportation of people who are suspected in having coronavirus. The ambulance cars will be equipped according to current protocols, with obligatory individual protection of medics and drivers (special overalls and masks). If necessary, these ambulance cars also will work in the city.

We considered governmental guidelines and practical experience of other countries; we implemented some preventive measures inside the company in time and are following up development of the situation attentively”.
