Russia is the world’s third largest coal exporter after Indonesia and Australia with a share of 15%, Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on February 27.

“The exports are very important and have doubled since 2011. Russia occupies the third position in the world after Indonesia and Australia by coal exports. We hold a 15% share on the global market, and Russian coal companies have ensured around 40% of the global coal market growth,” he said.

Novak also said that Russia’s coal output currently amounted to 440 million tons, of which half was exported.

“Russian coal exports will rise from 220 million tons in 2019 to 259 million tons in 2035 under the conservative scenario and to 392 million tons under the optimistic scenario,” he added. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
