Altai-Koks, a part of Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), has developed a technology to produce foundry coking coal of 100 millimeters and more, NLMK said in a statement on December 16.
“Development of this product will allow the company to extend the sales markets by imports replacement. Producers of heat insulators earlier bought 100 millimeter-class coking coal on the European market. The first 800-ton batch was dispatched to producers of heat and sound insulators,” the company said.
Production of this type of coking coal is planned at 7,000 tons per year. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
