Until 2034 Rusal intends to commission a plant to produce alumina of kaolin ore with the capacity of 1 million tons.
Until 2023 at the Achinsk Alumina Plant a trial manufacture of alumina of kaolin ores will begin. And until 2034 the full-scale production will start.
The plant will be situated close to kaolin ore deposits.
So far only bauxites manufactured in Africa, South America and Australia have been used.
In October 2018 – October 2019 Rusal foreign plants mined over 10 million tons of bauxites and produced 5 million tons of alumina.
At the same time Russia mined 5.6 million tons of bauxites and produced 2.7 million tons of alumina. Import amounts to several dozen thousand tons, which shows there is no shortage in Russia. (Ukrainian metal)
