ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has applied a new method to repair coke-oven batteries Nos. 1 and 2 in order to decrease pollution.

The new method is based on the ceramic hard-laying of deep fissures with further inflation of powder mixes to seal smaller cracks in the refractory lining of the coking ovens.

This method is already being used in Europe, but this is the first time for Ukraine.

The repair of the first battery started in July.

It takes 2-4 days to work on each oven. The two batteries have 118 ovens – 59 each. So far 40 ovens have been repaired. Until the end of the year the work will be completed at the first battery. (Ukrainian metal)
