The modernization of the sheet-rolling mill-1700 at the Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works is nearing its end.
The mill has been modernized since 2018. The first stage saw the commission of a new heating furnace and a bulk coiling machine.
This allowed increasing steel coil weight to 16.5 tons as opposed to 9.5 tons before reconstruction.
The second stage presupposed the assembly of two descalers, a rouging stand, a coilbox and other machinery.
Equipment and machinery has been supplied by Primetals Technologies Austria.
Investments are expected to total $110 million. (Ukrainian metal)
