In 13 years ArcelorMittal has invested over $4.4 billion in its Kriviy Rih assets, with more than 6 billion UAH invested in the environment-friendly machinery.
AM bought the plant for $4.8 billion, and none of the 36 main units operated according to environmental standards.
Now 4 coke-oven batteries, 2 blast furnaces, 3 converters and 2 sintering machines operate according to European norms.
123 gas-purifying machines have been constructed.
2 coke-oven batteries, the open-hearth furnace No. 4 and the blast furnace No. 5, not meeting environment standards, have been put out of operation.
Soon the outdated sintering manufacture will be reconstructed, as well as the converter shop and the largest blast furnace, while a new pellets factory will be constructed.
EBRD has provided a loan of 350 million euro for some of the projects.
Since 2018 and until 2021 AMKR investments will amount to $1.8 billion. (Ukrainian metal)
