The campaign for repair of blasts furnaces has begun at ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih. The main scope of repairs will be performed in the first half of the year.
Category 3 intensive capital repair of the blast furnace No. 6 has begun. It will last for six days. Here charging equipment and main hoist skips will be replaced. Hot-blast stoves and stock house equipment will be repaired. Raw materials are prepared at stock house to be charged into the furnace. The capital repair will cost the company 112 million UAH.
ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih will allocate about 240 million UAH for category 3 capital repair of the blast furnace No. 9 – the biggest BF at the plant. It will be stopped on April 20 for 45-48 days. At this BF, it is planned to replace shaft-cooling staves and charging equipment, repair the shell, unite the shaft and fill the hearth with refractory concrete. Planned repair will help for sustainable operation of BF9 for 2 years before its full modernization planned for 2021.
The objective of capital repairs is to enable sustainable operation of blast furnaces, increase their efficiency and therefore reduce hot metal cost. Moreover, it will let the company fulfill this year business plan for sinter and hot metal production, provide for workload at steelmaking shops and the plant in general. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
