Ukrainian manufacturers of galvanized rolled metal await the implementation of the preliminary protective measures on the import of these products from China and Russia.
According to the executive director of the Ukrainian Center of Steel Construction, Vyacheslav Kolesnik, in August-September 2018 the imports of Chinese galvanized metal reached their peak, but after that dropped sharply.
“We believe this has to do with Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works asking the Ministry of economy and trade to start an antidumping investigation in October 2018”, he said.
He added that China supplied mostly cheap, but low quality metal to Ukraine, with the zinc content of some 20-40 g per square meter, while the European requirements are not less than 200 g per square meter. (Ukrainian metal)
