In 2018 Ukrzaliznytsia transported over 273 thousand cargo cars with iron ore raw materials to the western border of Ukraine, up by 3% YoY.
According to the acting chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevgeniy Kravtsov, transportation volumes depend not only on the availability of the rolling stock, but also on the operation of all parties of the process.
Moreover, there are a number of factors that limit Ukraine’s attempts to increase iron ore raw materials exports to Europe.
“Unfortunately the throughput capacities in Slovakia and Hungary do not meet the needs of the local customers. Despite EU providing them with funds to improve infrastructure, the issue is far from being settled”, he said. (Ukrainian metal)
