Technological equipment of the Italian company Danieli will be used for the production of cold-rolled steel with protective coatings at the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant (TMP), the Uzbek company reported.
According to the information, the total production of the enterprise will amount to 500,000 tons of metal products per year, of which 200,000 tons will account for the production of 0.3-1.2-millimeter-thick hot-dip galvanized steel, and 300,000 tons – 0.3-0.7-millimeter-thick rolled metal with polymer coatings.
The range of products can also include automotive steel sheets in the amount of up to 50,000 tons per year.
“The TMP is of great strategic importance for Uzbekistan. Commissioning of the plant will reduce the country’s dependence on metallurgical exports and significantly increase its industrial potential,” the company noted.
The commissioning of the enterprise is scheduled for Q4 2019. The total investment will reach 287 million euros. The new plant is expected to reach its design capacity in 2022 and will cover most of Uzbekistan’s needs for coated sheet metal.
Danieli is the third largest supplier of equipment and installations for the metal industry in the world. The company has eight factories in Italy, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Thailand, China, India and Russia (Danieli Volga).
It was earlier reported that during the Uzbek-Russian Interregional Cooperation Forum, Uzbekistan’s O’zsanoatqurilishbank, the Russian Export Center (REC), the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant and the Uzbek Asaka Bank signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in financing the project on construction of the TMP.
