The Russian government is ready to support aluminum producer RUSAL, which is under U.S. sanctions, by purchasing aluminum or providing loans, Deputy Finance Minister Vladimir Kolychev said.

New sanctions against Russia were introduced by the U.S. in April. RUSAL was among the blacklisted companies, which means arrest of assets in the U.S. and prohibition to American citizens to have any business with it.

RUSAL started temporary shutdowns of electrolysis capacities of its Nadvoitsy Aluminum Smelter in the republic of Karelia in early August, saying that that the company, which sold its products to the U.S., had been stockpiling the metal since April because of sanctions. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
