Zaporizhstal has opened the season of shipping metal products via water transport.
This year the company intends to deliver some 600 thousand tons of metal via the River Dnepr.
Zaporizhstal metal has already been delivered over the water to Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Georgia, Serbia and Macedonia.
“This year we will keep the volumes of metal delivered via the water transport. Our main markets are Turkey and EU. Last year we also entered the Caucasus market. We’ll try to strengthen our positions there. Because Europe has imposed a duty on Ukrainian metal, we will have to reorient some 150 thousand tons to other markets”, Zaporizhstal sales director Vladimir Kolomiets said.
The developed water transport could become a good alternative to the railroad monopoly, as the transportation of 1 ton of metal by water is 15% cheaper. (Ukrainian metal)
