PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih increases the level of technical equipment for its own gas rescue service. Priority No. 1 of the company is safety of its employees at production sites, their lives and health.

The enterprise has renewed a fleet of emergency-rescue vehicles at gas rescue service. PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih invested 2.4 million UAH in purchasing Renault Master. The new vehicle has modern rescue equipment, which can be used in gassed air in extreme situations. This vehicle, equipped with all necessary equipment, allows increasing the speed and quality of response to all emergency situations at production facilities of the company.

Sergey Leonov, Director of Gas Rescue Service, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih: “90% of successful rescue operations depend on how fast we come to the place of accident. We have to go on call within a minute, and arrive at the destination within seven minutes. That is why our transport has to be always ready for emergency calls. The new vehicle and technical equipment will help us to do so. Saving people, eliminating accidents and their consequences and preventive work require modern equipment and its continuous upgrade”.

Gas rescuers of the company have modern oxygen respirators, artificial lung ventilation devices, compressed air breathing apparatus, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, portable gas control devices. Recently, two new compressors made by Dräger company have been put into operation in the gas rescue service for filling compressed gas breathing apparatus with compressed oxygen. These devices are provided by rescuers to workers and contractors who work at gas-hazardous facilities of the enterprise: in BF shops, steam-gas, BOF, open-hearth, rolling shop, heating plants. The cost of each compressor was 1.6 million UAH.

New compressors help to maintain equipment faster and more reliably. They can be transported and used at all four gas-rescue stations of the service: near the BOF shop of Steel Plant, in the territory of Mining Department, Coke Plant and BF No. 9.

Among the new gas rescue equipment there are also two AirPack compressed air supply stations. They are designed for remote air supply for breathing to the breathing apparatus of workers performing long gas-hazardous work at altitude, in confined spaces and tunnels. Moreover, the company purchased 16 modern breathing apparatus PSS5000 to replace old oxygen gas-protecting devices at the blast furnace complex No. 9.
