PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih presented its investment activity during the meeting with regional deputies and representatives of German society for international cooperation GIZ. The seminar took place with participation of Consul-General of German Federal Republic Wolfgang Mössinger and Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Gleb Prygunov.
Environment, infrastructure and trade became the main seminar themes. GIZ guest team presented their key projects, which were being implemented together with German State Development Bank KFW and German and Ukrainian fund. These projects are focused on environment improvement, implementation of energy-saving and green technologies, infrastructure modernization, and also support of framework conditions for trade.
The top-managers of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, which is the largest foreign investor in Dnipropetrovsk region as well as in Ukraine, were also invited to the meeting. The company’s managers told about implementation of investment projects, including those focused on environment and reduction of environment footprint on surrounding areas.
Wolfgang Mössinger, Consul-General of German Federal Republic: “Our strategy is supporting Ukraine and Dnipropetrovsk region particularly, on a way to European standards. We actively provide our support to the energy-saving projects, during decentralization and recovery of social infrastructure. In addition to this, it is important to get knowledge and change the mindset. I appreciate the representatives of ArcelorMittal and HeidelbergCement for finding time to present their activity and investment projects at our meeting. Economic cooperation firstly means cooperation between companies. That is why international companies, working there, are kind of centers of know-how development”.
Tiwari Vinay, Chief Technology and HSE Officer, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih: “Our investments are mainly focused on maximum reduction of production impact on environment. In ArcelorMittal corporation a high-professional research and development center works, which helps in choosing the right technology for reducing an industrial impact on region, where we do our business. Since the day when foreign investor came to the plant, pollution emissions have been reduced by 37%, wastewater discharge by 74%, waste disposal by 44%. If to compare with a last year, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih increased twice their investments into environment. And totally for 12 years of the company’s work in Ukraine, investments in environmental activities amounted to UAH 5.5 billion”.
Viktor Sergeev, the Head of Federation of Employer Organizations in Dnipropetrovsk region: “After the visit to PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, I could confirm once again that, for example, there are no such coke batteries, as recently constructed at this plant, in any other company in the metallurgical industry of Ukraine.
