Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works has signed an agreement with Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH for the delivery of equipment to reconstruct the sheet-rolling mill 1700 valued at over $25 million.

According to the contract the Austrian company will develop the project of the mill reconstruction and in 2018 will supply new equipment to improve the shop productivity, rolled metal surface quality and decrease wastes. The commissioning is scheduled for 2019.

In August the companies concluded an agreement to develop the basic engineering of the reconstruction.

Investments will total $85.5 million.

“We intend to replace 80% of the machinery in the shop and will be able to produce goods of better quality. Austrian technologies to be used are one of the best in the world”, Mariupol Ilyich CEO Taras Shevchenko said. (Ukrainian metal)
