Russia supplies some 10 million tons of coal to Ukraine annually and intends to retain the market.
“I don’t think that the first coal batch from US will affect us. Mostly because we supply coking coal for metal enterprises. Ukraine used to get the power-generating coal from the DPR and LPR (Russia-created terrorist organizations of Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics). So this is mostly the delivery of power coal from US, and we have never supplied such coal to Ukraine”, the deputy energy minister Anatoly Yanovsky said.
He added, that coal deliveries from Russia to Ukraine were regulated by contracts between private companies.
“We have no limitations on coal deliveries to Ukraine. And, of course, we are interested in preserving the delivery volumes”, Yanovsky noted. (Ukrainian metal)
