On July 23, the second bulk carrier delivered 75,000 tons of South African anthracite to Yuzhny Port. The new batch will help DTEK continue to build up coal stocks at its TPPs and ensure stable power supply in Ukraine.
At present, the ship unloading is underway and will take three or four days. The anthracite is for Prydniprovska and Kryvorizka TPPs. As of July 23, the coal stocks at the plants were 110,000 tons and 90,000 tons, respectively.
“DTEK continues to implement the program to build up anthracite stocks and prepare its thermal power plants for the coming winter. The second shipment provides a safety cushion for our anthracite-fired TPPs. To date, 150,000 tons of anthracite imported from South Africa have arrived in Ukraine as part of our supply contract,” said DTEK Energy Commercial Director Vitaly Butenko.
The first ship with 75,000 tons of anthracite for DTEK TPPs came to Ukraine on May 25. Overall, the company contracted 675,000 tons of coal from the Republic of South Africa. (SCM/Ukrainian metal)
