Metal products exports with the duty of 30 euro per ton bring to the state budget 5 times more than the scrap export of the same volume.
“According to our calculations, 1 ton of scrap, processed into metal at the duty of 10 euro, gave 10 times more to the budget than 1 ton of scrap exported. Now, with the duty of 30 euro per ton, it gives 5 times more”, Ukrmetallurgprom CEO Alexander Kalenkov said.
In 2014-2015 Ukraine exported record volumes of scrap, in particular 1.2 million tons in 2015, while the shortage on the local market was 800 thousand tons.
In 2016 Ukraine exported around 272 thousand tons of scrap. (Ukrainian metal)
